This picture was the beginning of my creative journey.
I took it during my junior year of high school at the Griffith Observatory in L.A. It’s a beautiful shot of a city full of artists and creatives who dream of making things as beautiful as this—and me, a random tourist from Indiana, suddenly sharing that same dream. It’s a reminder of the power creatives have to truly move people and that ideas never die.
The Man Himself
Hey, I’m Derrick, let’s talk about death. We’re all gonna die eventually, so I’ve decided to reserve four spaces on my tombstone for those who helped or inspired me to complete my bucket list.
Hussein Farhat - My favorite instagram gym rat who inspires me to workout at 5 in the morning as I chase after their physique
Donald Glover - My pick for the most creative man in entertainment, who drives me to pursue a career that my parents still don’t fully understand
My Mom - I mean how horrible would I be if I didn’t include her
(You) - The one who helped me break into the wacky world of advertising
